In spite of hardship and crisis of the family’s livelihood; Glorio O. Dumandan Jr. still excel in his academic world. He was a constant honor student both in elementary, high school and even in college. He graduated as 1st honorable mention in elementary. In high school, he graduated as the class valedictorian and receive various awards from Cong. Dodo Ra. Cagas and Gov. Benjamin Baustista. In college he graduated bearing the award “Exemplary Academic Performance”, an awards given by the university of Mindanao next to Cum Laude.

By the promise of board member Mercedes Cagas to give an scholarship to him, his courage to pursue in college uplift. He cant believe that a person like him, a poor and deliberately sure that his family cant sent him in college be a recipient of that scholarship. Mr. Rolly Impas, Cagas Scholarship Coordinator, recommend him to apply in the CHED Scholarship Program because he was graduated as valedictorian. This programs caters a tuition fee if not exceed to 10,000/sem and an allowance of 2,700/sem; to be enrolled in the universities commendable by the CHED. His name was already in the list of those probable but he rejected the offers.

Glorio O. Dumandan Jr. really wants to pursue a Law course and that he wants to enroll AB-Political Science but because of unavailability in the locality he decided to enroll BS-Criminology at UM Bansalan College. He apply for Academic scholar in the university and granted as a full scholar for two consecutive semesters of his first year in college. In 2nd year on his college, he apply for the STAP (Student Training Assistance Program) of the university and hired. He became a working scholar at the same time and academic scholar of the university. He was assigned at the Director’s Office particulars to the Property Custody. He was once accorded and awarded as “Outstanding STAP of the Year” of the university.

By the battle of perseverance and dedication, Glorio O. Dumandan Jr. wants to become an officer in ROTC. He took the Philippine Army Advance ROTC Examination, an scholarship program of the ARESCOM and hurdle it and became an scholar in the Philippine Army. He receive an over all total of 32,000 cash incentives/ allowance from the ARESCOM for 4 consecutive semesters. He was the S1 (Adjutant) of the ROTC at Cor Jesu College, Digos City during the RAAPE (tactical inspection).

As a prominent scholar on his age, Glorio O. Dumandan Jr. encourages the neophytes or the takers/ challengers/ aspirants to excel on their different fields even hardships and crisis will bar them from doing it!
